Devany and Austin live in San Francisco, but when we FaceTimed about planning their engagement session — they told me they were up for an adventure and wanted to choose a place that we all felt excited about. It was serendipity that we landed on Ojai, California. As we were chatting, we came up with the idea of booking a cute hotel & taking some funky film-inspired photos with flash for part of their session. I remembered seeing a friend on Instagram post about the Capri Hotel in Ojai, and as soon as I showed Devany and Austin we felt like it was the perfect place. Ojai is surrounded by mountains, the most magical lemon tree orchards, and has a really special spiritual aura. I truly never wanted to leave! We made a day of their session exploring the town, adventuring to a secluded spot near the river I had scouted the day prior, and driving up into the rolling hills for sunset. After the day portion of their session, we grabbed dinner and drinks before going back to their hotel room and getting a little creative! They’re getting married in Oaxaca, Mexico so incorporating mezcal was a must. Every moment of this day was a dream.
