Mattie Claire & Carl’s larger wedding celebration was cancelled as a result of COVID-19, but that didn’t stop them from becoming husband and wife. In the span of one week, they pulled this day together with the help of their close friends – especially Nathania of Nat + Co Events, who took the lead in planning & styling. I had the honor of witnessing Mattie & Carl say their vows privately in a hidden cove at Stinson Beach, the place where their relationship first began. They were surrounded by a few friends, and their families listened from afar over the phone. Both Mattie and Carl value community so greatly, so for them to not be able to celebrate fully with their families and loved ones was a sacrifice – but it was so clear that they were meant to be married at this exact time. They created a ceremony that felt right to them – they worshipped together, sang alongside their friends, and exchanged rings. We all cried, and these two committed to a lifetime together just as the sun set over the horizon of Stinson Beach.
Their day was simple, and beautiful, and so full of intention. It was a beautiful reminder of what really matters on a wedding day – and how the most important moments do not revolve around the details of the day. Carl’s ring was a last-minute Amazon prime find, and Mattie’s dress was overnight shipped from Free People. Their flowers were from Trader Joe’s and the rug was purchased from Facebook Marketplace just a day or so beforehand. And truly, none of that mattered. As I plan my own wedding, I will be forever be reminded of the simplicity of this day – and how unbelievably special it all was, without all of the frills of a traditional wedding day. I hope Mattie & Carl’s story inspires you as you’re planning your day – and reminds you that your love is what makes your wedding so special. It was so difficult to narrow down my favorites from the day, but here goes –
IM YOUR BIGGEST FAN OMG HOW BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
